Pay no purchase fee when you buy $30, $50, $100, $200 and $400 TCN Eftpos gift cards in-store Coles between 3 Dec and 9 Dec 2025.
If you purchased a $400 TCN Eftpos gift card, for example, you would only have to pay $400.00 as the usual $9.95 purchase fee will be waived.
Here are the details:
- Runs from Wed 3 Dec to Tue 9 Dec 2025
- Only available in-store at Coles
- Limit of five gift cards per customer
- Excludes Bromley and Bluey Eftpos gift cards
- You will also earn 1x Flybuys point per dollar spent
You can spend Eftpos gift cards almost anywhere physical payments are accepted. You can’t use Eftpos gift cards online or over the phone.
These no purchase fee offers are a popular way to easily meet a minimum spend offer for a credit card sign up bonus or to get around surcharges that some merchants place on Visa, Mastercard and American Express payments (e.g. ALDI).
Also, if you’re planning to give someone a prepaid gift card as a Christmas present, these TCN Eftpos cards would be a great choice.

What’s the benefit of them, other than fee waived off on them. ANYONE ANY SUGGESTIONS
I’ve listed several in the article.
You get $2 in fb
Ato accepted?
They don’t work online. In the past it has been possible to pay at least some ATO debts with these at Australia Post but I don’t know it’s that still the case. Even if it technically still works, not all AusPost staff will allow it.
The current discount on Mastercard gift cards at Coles would be a much better choice if you’re wanting to pay the ATO.
I used the $100 Coles Mastercard 2 day ago to pay ATO bills and it worked. But today when trying to pay another ATO bills with $250 Coles MC, ATO asks me to fill out my contact details associated with card issuer (Coles Mastercard which they don’t have), turned out they rejected the card payment.
So I think ATO will stop these prepaid cards now? Or is there something else that I dont know?
Correct. This change occurred on Saturday. This article I’ve written explains it in more detail.
Do you reckon if I use to the $250 Coles Mastercard to buy the upcoming TCN Eftpos Gift Card and swipe them at AusPost? Is that still working?
yes
Does DEFT work with this card at Post?
It should do if the staff member allows it, but they often cancel the transaction when they watch you swipe
“Limit of five gift cards per customer” – How do they enforce this?
The checkouts will prevent you from scanning more than 5 gift cards in 1 transaction. You could always try purchasing more in a separate transaction, but the only thing that will stop you in that case is the store staff.
Staff may not authorise any more purchases until you visit another time (when the staff on duty change) or until the next day, as it is standard Coles policy to limit gift card purchases to 5 per customer (and you see this on the signs at the top of the gift card shelves).
Indeed, so it’s more a limit of 5 per transaction
In terms of actually using the card, is it similar to the prepaid Mastercard where you swipe, push Credit (?), input a pin and then reuse that pin for future purchases?
With Eftpos gift cards you press Savings instead of Credit and the PIN you must use is printed on the back of the card itself.
Expiry quickly in 3 years, can’t use that much at aldi before expiry date
Use them to buy Aldi gift cards that never expire?
Good idea
Regarding online use, is it possible to put the Eftpos gift card as PayPal linked card/account so online purchase/transaction can use the card via PayPal
You have to physically swipe these gift cards. They don’t work online.
Do these work to buy other gift cards at Coles? I have a Commbank Yello offer for $10 cashback, however I have just done my groceries using another account and don’t need anything. I have bought a gift card at Woolies using this (that went absolutely horribly) but haven’t done it at Coles. I would assume it would work though?
Ordinarily I’d say you shouldn’t have any issues but Coles appear to have just implemented more restrictions on gift card purchases so it’s possible that’s no longer the case. At Woolworths, however, they should still work to buy most gift cards, just not all (e.g. other prepaid Visa, Mastercard or Eftpos gift cards or Woolworths Group gift cards).
I didn’t even notice it but the card I bought has had the last 3 numbers scratched off, however it is still visible. It even had the cover over it, once I took it out of the packaging I realised it was taped with sticky tape. Hopefully it is still useable, very frustrating.
Update- unfortunately the swiper was also tampered with, now have to deal with Coles CS. Always think it wont happen to you until it does! Definitely worth checking even with the cardboard piece covering the cardboard.
