If you bought the maximum of five $100 Visa gift cards, you would earn 8,000 Flybuys points (worth $40 or 4,000 Velocity points) for just $29.75 in purchase fees.
Warning: You should tear open each Visa gift card after scanning it at the checkout so that you can check for signs of tampering. It’s easier to do this if you purchase each one in a separate transaction. More details can be found here.
Also, it’s generally a good idea to spend prepaid Visa gift cards sooner rather than later as the longer they sit idle, the higher the possibility of a successful BIN attack (scammers brute force different card number combinations until they find working ones).

Each $105.95 gift card earns you 105 standard points, not 106.

Can these cards be added to a digital wallet?
They can’t, unfortunately.
Vanilla Visa/Mastercard gift cards really are the most low-tech prepaid cards on the market but they’re also the only ones regularly included in decent offers so I guess that’s the price we must pay.

For some sure. If you extract maximum value from those bonus points it’s a great deal – worth the effort and activation fee.
I wonder if you could buy one, and then in a separate transaction, buy a second one and pay for it with the first one (of course you’d have to pay the fee somehow), then use the second one to pay for a third one and so on. That way, you would spend $100+ 5x $5.95 from your own money, and you’d walk out with one Visa card. I’m sure the cashier would hate you for it.
Very unlikely. The self service machines will not let you or a staff member split payment when buying these gift cards. So the only way is at the service desk area. Even then, it’s very unlikely a staff member is going to be okay with that idea.
no, the payment terminal will give an error. But you can usually take cards from coles and use them to pay at woolworths, and vice versa. So you could use cards to purchase cards – just not straight away.
I have in the past used one card plus $5.95 cash to buy another one in 10 or 20 mins of each other or on separate days to avoid suspicion. Another double dip, which I did yesterday, was to buy them with category choice groceries gift card I got discounted from Amazon.
