Pocket Money and Spending Money, also known as Digital Cash, are prepaid open loop Mastercard gift cards produced by MicroGifts.
Summary
You can:
- Use Pocket Money and Spending Money gift cards almost anywhere Mastercard is accepted
You cannot:
- Use physical Pocket Money gift cards without registering them as they don’t contain physical cards, just QR codes that you must scan to add the digital card to your mobile wallet
Promotions
Pocket Money gift cards were previously included in decent offers at Big W, ALDI and Giftz. However, with the possible exception on Giftz, none of those stores stock them anymore.
They sometimes run their own offers where those with a MicroGifts Digital Cash account can earn a bonus (e.g. $5) for topping up or sending a gift card but these usually aren’t worth it due to the fees involved.
