Qantas Marketplace, formerly known as the Qantas Store, is an online shop run by Qantas. Originally, gift cards on Qantas Marketplace could only be purchased with points but in December 2023 they began allowing customers to purchase selected gift cards with money.

You cannot:
- Make purchases on Qantas Marketplace without a Qantas Frequent Flyer membership (join here for free)
- Earn Points Club or Points Club Plus bonus points on gift cards
- Buy prepaid Visa, Eftpos or Mastercard gift cards with money
Promotions
Qantas Marketplace gift card promotions come in two varieties: bonus points and a discount on the points price of the gift cards. Using Qantas points to buy gift cards – even during a promotion – constitutes one of the worst value redemptions so that’s best avoided.
Buying gift cards with money to earn bonus points, on the other hand, can often be a great way to boost your Qantas Frequent Flyer balance. The standard earn rate of 3x points per dollar spent is only really worthwhile if you’re buying gift cards that are seldom included in any better offers (e.g. Bunnings, Amazon, Airbnb etc).
Since introducing the option to purchase gift cards with money, Qantas Marketplace have run a handful of promotions where you can earn up to 10x points per dollar spent. So far they haven’t been willing to offer more than 4x points on the most in demand gift cards but it’s possible that may change in a future offer.
