- Mastercard
- American Express
- Latitude
- Prepaid open loop gift cards
Whilst Amazon also supports Zip and UnionPay, these payment methods are are apparently excluded from being used to purchase gift cards.
Previously, Amazon’s own gift cards could be used to purchase most third-party gift cards (excluding Activ Visa), however, this ceased being possible in October 2023.
At least some prepaid open loop gift cards (e.g. Vanilla/Coles Mastercard) have been known to work on Amazon when purchasing other gift cards, though this may not be the case for all prepaid gift cards.
Promotions
Amazon are known to frequently run promotions on gift cards. The most common offers they run are on their own gift cards (e.g. $10 promo credit when you spend $200 or more on Amazon.com.au gift cards), however, every month or so they also run a promotion on a variety of third-party gift cards.
Amazon’s offers sometimes include multiple different types of promotions. For example, some may include promo credits that you can use towards future Amazon purchases whereas others may be discounts or bonus value offers.
Whilst gift cards on Amazon can be purchased by anyone who signs up for a free Amazon account, some promotions are exclusively for those with a paid Amazon Prime subscription.
