The five gift card limit is really just a per transaction limit. You can try making multiple transactions back to back but most Coles staff won’t allow it so you may have to use a different checkout or visit another store.
You can use unlimited gift cards in-store and online at IKEA. For Officeworks you can only use multiple gift cards in-store.

How many gc can u use in 1 transaction in officeworks? Im planning to get an iphone there
There is no limit for in-store purchases as far as I know. People have been known to use dozens. If you want to be extra safe you can call your local store and ask before buying.

I heard that it can only be used with an offline Officeworks instance. Is that true?
Whilst they technically work online at Officeworks, they’re functionally useless because you can only enter them in the credit/debit card field which means you must have enough of a balance to cover the entire purchase with one card. There’s also an issue where they apparently won’t work when buying anything in the technology category on the Officeworks website.
However, you should have no issues spending them in-store at Officeworks.

That hasn’t been possible since 2023.
