Yes, you can use it to pay for hotels via the Accor website and app. You can type the number in directly or use your mobile wallet.
Just remember that you can’t split payments when paying online so these gift cards would only be good for bookings under $500.For overseas bookings there may be a conversion fee too.
If it’s a booking you can pay for in-person at the hotel (ideally in Australia) then that makes it a lot easier to use these gift cards.
Does it really work at IHG hotels? Many IHG brands have their own MCC:
– 3501 Holiday Inn
– 3512 Intercontinental
– 3750 Crowne Plaza
– 3813 Hotel Indigo
but the database has IHG as 7011 – has that been confirmed for Australian IHGs?
How about 8099, the database has ?s for some of the entries where some of the other 80XX MCCs might be more appropriate. I guess the only way to find out is to try. But do you really want to add individual locations across the whole country if people submit reports?
IHG apparently use 7011 for online bookings. I am not sure how widely used the hotel-specific MCCs are these days but I’ll add a note about it. Thanks.
I can only add what people submit and unfortunately most submissions don’t include the MCC, perhaps because you need the Android version of the TCN app to find out what they are.
It depends on the merchant. There’s no point listing every McDonald’s that someone has used a gift card at but I always try to include the location information for businesses that have been found to use multiple MCCs. At the end of the day I am always grateful to receive more detailed reports.
