So I can use the TCN pub card to pay gym membership?what about swimming pool facility thanks !
I have heard of people using them to pay for gym memberships and similar things but it may not work in all cases because some of those places may use an unexpected merchant category code.
Feel free to give it a go but if it doesn’t work then you’ll have to use the gift card for something else.
Can TCN card be purchased using this card?
https://gcdb.com.au/gc/coles-myer/
It used to be possible but I don’t believe it’s worked at Coles since April 2023.
What’s this card ?
They’re referring to the Coles Group & Myer gift card.
If you’ve bought multiple gift cards and then make them digital will they still be all seperate? Or are you able to combine into one larger card?
All seperate unfortunately. No way to combine. That would not help their business model….
A word of warning – be very careful when buying the Good Food cards. I wasted money on them earlier this year and have been unable to find anywhere in North Queensland that accepts them. They are much more restrictive than the black Restaurant cards. In Melbourne there are a number of restaurants that accept them so if you live there then they may work for you, but in my view and personal experience they are not widely accepted enough to warrant buying unless you know that you are going to be dining somewhere that will definitely accept them, so best to check in advance to make sure of that.
They’re just merchant category gift cards so they will work at almost any restaurant as long as it’s not categorised as fast food. However, you should always convert the physical cards into digital ones (see link in article above) as they’re much more likely to be accepted that way.
Where did you try using yours? Was it with a physical or digital card?
I’ve also found the black Restaurant cards are much more widely accepted than the good food and pub/bar ones. In the last three months I’ve found over a number of cafes and restaurants in Canberra where they didn’t work.
That makes sense as the Restaurant/Cafe Choice and TCN Restaurant gift cards support the merchant category code for fast food (5814) which is used by quite a few restaurants you might not associate with fast food (many cafes, for example).
TCN Pub & Bar and Good Food gift cards don’t support fast food (5814) but we do see more offers on them compared to those more versatile restaurant gift cards.
Curious question, in the past I’ve seen you say you can use the TCN pub to buy a restaurant choice gift card on shopback, is that still the case? Thank you for all your help and effort you do finding all these deals :))
That stopped working a long time ago, unfortunately. The TCN Good Food gift card lasted for a while longer but even it doesn’t work on ShopBack anymore.
“Limit of five gift cards per customer” means per day? thx!
It basically just means five per transaction. If Coles staff don’t notice or object you can buy keep buying more across separate transactions.
However, a lot of their staff love to enforce Coles’ general policy of ‘five gift cards per customer per day’ so if you go through the same checkout twice they may not sell them to you. Sometimes you have no choice but to visit another store.
Which one do you recommend as the best for day to day eating out?
– TCN Restaurant
– TCN Good food
– TCN Pub and Bar
– Restaurant black
– any other ..
Thanks in advance!
TCN Restaurant, Restaurant Choice and Cafe Choice gift cards are the best because they also support the merchant category code for fast food (5814) whereas the TCN Good Food and TCN Pub & Bar gift cards do not. Many cafes, for example, use the code 5814 even though you probably don’t think of them as being ‘fast food’.
