Zip Visa gift cards are merchant category restricted Visa gift cards that work similarly to Category Choice, ShopBack category and Cashrewards category gift cards, all of which are produced by Blackhawk Network.
There are currently five gift cards included in the Zip Visa range: Groceries, Fuel, Department Store, Tradie and Vets & Pets gift cards.
Summary
You can:
- Use each Zip Visa gift card at almost any business that corresponds to the theme of the gift card (e.g. you can use the Zip Visa Groceries gift card at Woolworths, Coles etc)
- Sometimes earn 10% cashback when you buy Zip Visa category gift cards
You cannot:
- Use a Zip Visa gift card at a merchant category that isn’t supported by that specific card (e.g. you can’t use the Tradie gift card at Woolworths)

Beginning in late 2024, Zip ran a handful of 10% cashback promotions on the Groceries, Department Store and Fuel gift cards. These offers sold out within hours of launching despite being set to run for a week, likely because of how rare it is to obtain discounts of 10% on gift cards that work at supermarkets and service stations.
