Good food card still available to be made digital? I can’t find the button on the website anymore
Yes. The option is still there in the menu of their website.
The Good Food Gift Card could not be used at Teawhite (a milk tea shop), Dooboo (a Korean restaurant), or Bonbons Bakery. Those transactions were declined. The restrictions on where this card can be used are more limiting than I expected🥺
I thought this card simply wouldn’t work at chain stores like these. However, it does work at Molly Tea, which is also a chain store, so it’s quite strange……
Thanks for the reports. Did you try paying with a physical or digital TCN Good Food gift card?
Bonbons isn’t surprising as they likely use the merchant category code ‘5462: Bakeries’ which isn’t supported by the TCN Good Food gift card. As for Teawhite and Dooboo, I suspect they may be categorised as ‘5814: Fast Food Restaurants’.
Not all tea places have the same merchant category code. I’ve heard of people using TCN Good Food gift cards at places like Gong Cha and Charley’s Tea which suggests that some of them may use the MCC for regular restaurants (5812).
Thanks for the reply. I used a digital card converted from the physical card.
I originally thought this card had basically the same acceptance range as the TCN Restaurant Gift Card, but now I think I understand what’s going on.
Unfortunately, the lack of support for fast food (5814) and bakeries (5462) means it’s not as useful as TCN Restaurant and Restaurant/Cafe Choice gift cards.
It’s still a work-in-progress but part of the reason I am building the Merchant Database is to give people a better idea of where all these gift cards actually work.
I see now. This database is actually really useful. It’s much more detailed and clearer than the official information. Thanks mate🥰
