Cashrewards category gift cards were a series of digital merchant category restricted gift cards sold by cashback service Cashrewards. These gift cards worked very similarly to ShopBack and Category Choice gift cards which are also produced by Blackhawk Network.
These gift cards were discontinued on 8 Sep 2025 when Cashrewards ceased operations.
Summary
You can:

- Use each gift card only at the types of merchants that correspond to the theme of the card (e.g. you can use the Cashrewards Tradies & DIY gift card at any hardware store)
You cannot:

Types of Cashrewards gift cards
Cashrewards category gift cards are like prepaid Visa gift cards set to only be accepted at certain types of merchants. For example, you can use the Cashrewards Fuel & Auto gift card at any service station but if you tried to use it at a supermarket it wouldn’t work.

Denominations
Cashrewards category gift cards were initially available in variable load denominations where could specify any amount between $5 and $950 to load onto the cards. However, they quickly changed this so that you could only choose from a handful of predefined values (e.g. $100, $200 or $300).
Promotions
Cashrewards category gift cards earned 2% cashback as standard, although they did occasionally run promotions where you could earn additional cashback (e.g. bonus $5 on $50 spend).
