Whether you’re buying a TV, phone, laptop, appliance or something else entirely, it’s surprisingly easy to score an additional 10% off your JB Hi-Fi shop thanks to the abundance of offers on gift cards that work at JB Hi-Fi.
These offers are also a great way to earn tens of thousands of Qantas or Velocity points as many gift card promotions these days offer bonus Everyday Rewards or Flybuys points (convertible to frequent flyer points) in lieu of a discount.
How it works
Whilst JB Hi-Fi’s own gift cards are almost never heavily discounted, TCN (The Card Network) and Ultimate multi-retailer gift cards that work at JB Hi-Fi are so frequently included in promotions that you usually never have to wait more than a few weeks for another one to start.
Coles and Woolworths run by far the most offers on TCN and Ultimate gift cards but we also occasionally see them at places like ALDI, Amazon, Reddy Express, Big W and Qantas Marketplace.
You can find a list of all the TCN and Ultimate gift cards that work at JB Hi-Fi here.

10% off vs 20x points
Promotions on TCN and Ultimate gift cards usually come in two varieties: 10% off or 20x Everyday Rewards or Flybuys points.
With the 20x bonus points offers, you’re essentially getting 10% of what you spend on gift cards returned to you in the form of Everyday Rewards and Flybuys points that you can redeem on groceries and other items.
Alternatively, you can convert Everyday Rewards points to Qantas points or Flybuys points to Velocity points. This is preferred by some as frequent flyer points can potentially be worth a lot more than supermarket points if you use them to book certain reward flights.
For example, if you bought $1,000 in TCN gift cards during a 20x points offer at Woolworths, you would earn 20,000 Everyday Rewards points worth either $100 if redeemed at Woolworths, Big W, BWS etc or convertible to 10,000 Qantas points.
If it were a 20x Flybuys points offer at Coles, you would still end up with $100 worth of points but they’d be redeemable at Coles, Kmart, Target, Officeworks etc or convertible to 10,000 Velocity points.
If you’re just interested in saving money and don’t care about frequent flyer points, a straight 10% off discount is marginally better value than a 20x points offer (effectively 9.09% off) but they’re more or less equivalent.

Using multiple gift cards at JB Hi-Fi
In-store
If you’re shopping in-store at JB Hi-Fi, there is no limit on the number of gift cards you can use to pay for a single transaction. This applies whether you’re using JB Hi-Fi’s own gift cards or JB Hi-Fi-compatible Ultimate and TCN gift cards.
All you have to do is tell them how much you wish to pay with each card. It can be a good idea to reveal the PINs on physical cards in advance so that the process doesn’t take any longer than it needs to.
Don’t worry if you’re planning to use dozens and dozens of gift cards as it’s not an uncommon occurrence at JB Hi-Fi. However, it may be a good idea to visit at a quieter time as a courtesy to staff and other customers.
Online
You can use an unlimited number of JB Hi-Fi or TCN gift cards when shopping online at JB Hi-Fi but not Ultimate gift cards.
This is because Ultimate removed the ability to swap their gift cards for JB Hi-Fi’s own gift cards in 2025. If you have multiple Ultimate gift cards, your only option is to spend them in-store at JB Hi-Fi.
If you want to use TCN gift cards for an online JB Hi-Fi purchase, you’ll first need to swap them for some of JB Hi-Fi’s own digital gift cards via the TCN website.
To do this, go to the page on the TCN website for your particular gift card (e.g. Him), select JB Hi-Fi from the list of retailers and follow the steps. If you get an error when attempting to swap, register each card and try again.
How to save even more
Price matching
Before buying something, check what price other retailers such as Amazon, Officeworks or Harvey Norman are selling it for because chances are JB Hi-Fi will match it.
Price matching can be achieved in-store or over live chat on the JB Hi-Fi website and in both cases you can still pay using gift cards (although not Ultimate gift cards if you’re paying online).
Negotiate
Even if price matching isn’t an option, you can still try asking JB Hi-Fi staff if they can give you a better price.
Sometimes they’ll say no or will only be able to shave a few dollars off but it’s always worth a try.
GST refunds
The Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) lets you claim back the 10% GST you’ve paid on purchases made within the 60 days prior to your departure from Australia.
To do this, you need to take your goods, receipt, passport and boarding pass to the TRS office at an Australian international airport. You must have spent at least $300 with the one supplier (e.g. JB Hi-Fi) to qualify for a refund.
Note that if you return to Australia you will need to declare your items again and if they amount to over $900 then you may be required to re-pay the GST you were previously refunded.
There are a number of other rules that apply to these refunds which you can find listed on ABF website.
